General meeting February 17th

General meeting February 17th

A very productive meeting.
We agreed:

Three target seats:
Horndean Downs – Candidate Blossom Gottlieb
Clanfield – Candidate Laurent Coffree
Liss – Candidate Ian James

The Green Party have a definition of “target seats”.

A long campaign (all year round):
Delivering regular newsletters
Formal opinion surveys
Door knocking: asking for opinion face to face on the door step – generally showing a presence

Short Campaign (6 weeks before election):
Intensive leafleting (at least 4 different ones)
Door step canvassing
“knocking up” on election Day
Telling at the election stations (basically showing a big Green rosette at the entrance)

Horndean Downs and Clanfield will be target seats as defined.
Liss will rely on door knocking plus leaflets as and when funds allow.

Each candidate would be responsible for their own campaign
They will assemble a core group of campaigners to produce newsletter, leaflets and planning
Additional help will be requested, as it is now, from the wider membership when required (e.g. leafleting, door knocking).

Two paper candidates were found.

Capacity building (increasing membership) will be undertaken
A “road show” will be produced to tour public halls in our less well represented area such Liphook, Bordon, Ropley, Horndean
